Chethana UK kerala piravi event was a roaring sucess and has recieved lots of public acclaim from the VIPs at the event as well as the malayalees in Britain who graced the occasion.

VARNAM 2009

We had a very sucessful event at Bournemouth. Over 15 families and 30 children participated in the event. there was painting, memory contests, quizzes and elocution. Fantastic talent within the malayalee community in the UK

About Us

Chethana is a socialist organisation that was formed to engage the Kerala diaspora in the United Kingdom. Our raison d'tre is to serve the Malayalees who while calling the UK, home still retain a n emotional, cultural and economical attachment to their motherland.

We are different in that, we seek to build a link to the motherland while accepting the fact that most of our members will spend their lives as responsible citizens of the UK. Chethana aims to provide a cultural forum where the malayalee diaspora is encouraged to retain our unique tradition and culture while resident in the UK.

Ours is a fraternal organisation that built on three fundamental principles. The first is of having a socialist and just society where together, we contribute in a wholesome manner to the betterment of our immediate society. The second involves engaging the consciousness and inate goodness of each individual in helping to transform the world we live in. Thirdly, we wish to nurture and stimulate the creative and cultural talent pool within the Kerala diaspora in the UK and leave a lasting legacy of our unique heritage.

To this end, Chethana holds several cultural fetes and competitions to showcase our talents as well to provide a taste of kerala. Plans are also on the anvil to hold skills workshops across the UK where experts from within the community would offer free advice and skills training to its members. Chetana is also invloved in several charity projects both in the UK as well as in India
